Sam Evans
We are pleased to announce the appointment of our new Music Director, Sam Evans.
“Growing up, I was very lucky that I was always around singing. Whether it was with my family and relatives at home (all Welsh people sing!), or at my primary school in Kingston which happened to have a really good choir, or at my local parish church, singing was a big part of my childhood. It’s given me a firm belief not only that everyone can sing, but that everyone should sing. I’ve conducted choirs of all different kinds, from choral societies to opera choruses, to community choirs and glee clubs. Whatever the style of music, I’ve seen first-hand the way making music together through singing brings people joy, improves mental and physical wellbeing, and fosters a sense of community.
Over the past twenty years, I’ve had three “strings to my bow”: performing as a singer in choral music and as a soloist, teaching singing, and conducting choirs of all kinds. As Music Director of Harrow Choral Society, I will be drawing on all three, to ensure that HCS can perform to the highest possible standard, and have a lot of fun doing so!”
