Description: | ![]() This summer, Harrow Choral Society will present a programme of jazz-inspired music in the Great Hall of Merchant Taylors’ School, Moor Park, Northwood, HA6 2HT on Saturday, 5th July. Sam Evans will conduct the choir, accompanied by The L’Estrange Trio and joined by soprano Joanna Forbes L’Estrange. Written in 2003, Will Todd’s Mass in Blue has become a modern choral classic, combining the European Catholic tradition of the sung Mass and the African-American Blues. John Rutter’s Birthday Madrigals are a tribute to the great jazz pianist and composer, George Shearing, setting five poems from the Elizabethan age – two of them by Shakespeare – to music which, while influenced by jazz, is also very much in the madrigal tradition. |
